To meet the need for continuous improvement in efficiency in onshore drilling operations, since 1997 Varco Drilling Systems has developed the innovative TDS-11SA top drive drilling system based on drive technology.
Varco took advantage of the achievements of AC variable frequency technology to design this TDS-11SA top drive drilling system equipped with two (350 hp or 400 hp, depending on different needs) AC drilling motors. The 700-horsepower or 800-horsepower top-drive drilling system produces 32,500 ft-lbs of drilling torque and 47,000 ft-lbs and 56,000 ft-lbs of make-up/breakout torque, respectively.
The TDS-11SA is compact, can operate safely within a standard 142-foot derric, and can generate up to 500 tons of lift. TDS-11SA adopts a convenient design, and its installation and disassembly work takes only a few hours. It is easy to install on existing drilling rigs with low installation costs and requires only minimal modifications to the derric.
